I have joined the Essex Society for Family History (UK) in the last month. I received a letter from them a few days ago and I had some geeky excitement in receiving a letter at all and the fact it came by Royal Mail!
They also seem to have a sense of humour:
I am starting to enter in my ancestor surnames for this area in their database. I am going more slowly doing this task than for others I have in the past year because I am experiencing a bit of anxiety over all the things of which I need to keep track. I also want to write more frequent posts here!
